Most communication training starts too late.
Most communication training focuses
on what happens during a conversation.Like how to listen, give feedback,
build trust, and navigate conflict. Those skills matter.
But they’re only part of the story. The conversations that shape our relationships, teams, and organizations begin long before anyone says a word. They begin with the invisible part of communication: the intentional choices we make before a conversation begins.

Meet Mika
Founder, Waters Edge Co

For more than twenty-five years, I’ve helped leaders and teams strengthen communication in organizations around the world. Along the way, I’ve co-authored college communication textbooks, designed leadership development programs, and partnered with corporations, government agencies, nonprofits, and universities to improve the conversations that matter most.Over time, one question changed everything:Why do people leave communication training inspired, yet struggle to apply what they’ve learned when the conversation actually matters? That question led me beyond communication skills alone and into the study of emotional intelligence, neuroscience, and the choices that shape behavior, perceptions, and impact.Today, I help leaders strengthen the invisible parts of communication—transforming awareness into practical actions that build trust, inspire loyalty, and create exceptional outcomes.
